One step closer to being an overlanding dream. We outfitted our customer's electric blue 4Runner for off grid power. First, we installed a full Prinsu Designs Roof Rack. Once installed, towards the rear of the rack, we mounted a Sunflare 105w flexible solar panel. With internal wiring, we connected this panel to an Anderson plug located at the right rear passenger seat where it will power and charge a Dometic PLB40. Having an accessible solar powered energy source elevates your off grid game to another level as well as releases the worry of running out of power or draining your vehicle's battery when far from civilization. The PLB40 portable battery is specifically designed to power a cooler for a weekend, 12V devices, and USB accessories.
Furthermore, even in inclement weather, shade, or extreme heat, Sunflare flexible solar panels will perform. Compared to traditional silicone-based panels, whose cells are wired in strings, each cell in a Sunflare has an individual bypass diode. This means that when the shade hits, only the individual cells that are effected turn off instead of an entire string leading to greater overall energy capture. In addition, due to their lightweight and flexibility, installation of Sunflare panels is painless and simple.
For extra light when offroading at night or driving in low visibility settings, we installed a Baja Designs S8 40" driving/combo LED light bar. Housed in a new scalloped design, this LED light bar features 16,000 lumens of pure power, low amp draw of 13.32amps, and nearly 50,000 hours of LED life.
