For my Gear Worth Grabbing, I recommend the Yakima OnRamp LX Bike Carrier because it honestly solved a problem that I didn't even realize I had. 

I was in the market for a bike rack, and I thought that any sturdy rack would do.  But, I happened to chat with our Yakima sales rep while he was visiting the shop and that's when I learned that e-bikes actually need a stronger, more specialized carrier. Between the extra weight, longer wheelbases, and the fact that so many e-bikes come with fenders, not every rack is built to handle them. That's where the Yakima OnRamp LX really stood out to me. 

One of the things I appreciate the most about this rack is how secure it feels on the road. The hitch pin is actually a bolt that tightens the rack into place, so it doesn't wobble or rattle while traveling. It also comes with a locking hitch pin, which gives me peace of mind knowing it's not going anywhere when I park. Loading bikes is simple too! Thanks to the integrated ramp, I can just roll the bike on instead of lifting it. The adjustable trays make it easy to fit different wheelbases (up to 54"), whether it's a kid's bike, road bike, or a heavy-duty cargo e-bike. 

Another detail that makes a big difference is the center post hold-down system. Because it secures the bike by the frame instead of the wheels, bikes with fenders aren't an issue at all. The tiered trays also keep bikes from bumping into each other and add ground clearance for when the road isn't perfectly smooth. And when I'm not using it, the whole rack folds up neatly against the back of the vehicle, which is a nice space-saver. 

What makes the Yakima OnRamp LX such a solid choice, in my opinion, is the balance between strength and thoughtful design. It's rated to carry up to 80 lbs per bike, so it handles e-bikes with ease, but it's also versatile enough to carry just about any type of bike. For me, it's taken the hassle out of transporting my e-bike and turned it into something simple, secure, and worry-free.
