2022 GMC 3500 Overland Build Bio

Our team wrapped up a complete Overland Overhaul on this brand-new GMC 3500 HD, converting it from a typical work truck to a complete turn-key adventure vehicle. Check out the complete list of improvements, along with photographs that followed the complete transformation.

Parts List:

Suspension:

Ready Lift Leveling Kit for 2022 GMC 3500 HD

Wheels and Tires:

Method MR701 Wheels

BFGoodrich K02 All-Terrains

Camper:

Overland Explorer Vehicles Camp-X Slide-In camper

Specs: Weight: 1,345lbs (does not include camper jacks or batteries), Sleeps up to 4 people, built out of custom insulated aluminum extrusion, developed to be used on 1/2, 3/4, and 1-ton trucks. Note* Camper works with any vehicle's factory bed. Not Flatbed required.

Flatbed:

Overland Explorer Vehicles 6.5ft Aluma Tray

Specs: Weight:700lbs, fully powder coated, CNC machine cut and formed aluminum flatbed, four lockable storage compartments, one slide-out drawer at the rear of flatbed, relocated filler ports for diesel and DEF fluid, max load: 3,000lbs.

Accessories:

WeBoost Celluar Signal Booster

The build started with adding the Ready Lift Spacer lift to make room for the new wheels and tires. Once tire clearance was confirmed the next step is to remove the factory bed in exchange for the OEV Aluma Tray.

The bed swap is well underway. An onboard air compress is being installed along with adding recovery gear into the Aluma tray's storage boxes.

Once the Aluma Tray is finalized, OEV's Camp-X can be slid into place and pull the truck out of the shop for good.

Our team whipped together a custom electrical cut-off panel used to kill all power going to the Camp-X Camper. This kill switch is ideal to use both as a precautionary measure if there was ever an issue with the electrical system in the camper. It's also good practice when you have to remove the camper to turn off the power rather than just unplugging the camper.

GP Factor Universal Maxtrax Mounts are used to mount Maxtrax to OEV's molle panel.

ARB Dual Air Compressor custom mounted into the Aluma Tray storage compartment. Perfect for airing tires back up after off-road traveling. A great way to keep your vehicle's air filter clean after traveling dusty trails.
