Initial Thoughts on Our New Ineos Grenadier

If you love the old school look of the Defender you will be happy to know that the Ineos Grenadier has taken the off-road world by storm. This no-nonsense, retro-inspired 4x4 has carved its own niche in a market dominated by increasingly tech-focused and comfort-based SUVs that have drifted further and further from the SUV’s intended purpose

Read on to find out what compelled us to choose the Grenadier over its rivals.

Built for Adventure

When the Grenadier was first announced and we heard about it, we were excited but tempered our expectations after seeing many a robust off-roading concept watered down by the time it hit the marketplaceThe wonderful news is that the Grenadier has remained exactly what was advertised as a concept – a true offroad vehicle that satisfies the needs of any true Defender fan.

While the Grenadier resembles the iconic Land Rover the new and updated power train updates the Grenadier for the American marketThe Grenadier features a robust ladder-frame chassis, solid axles, and a powerful and proven BMW 3.0L engine. On an upfitted package, it comes with front and rear lockers, as well as a two-speed transfer case to give you a set of crawler gears, with a standard locking center differential.

The ladder frame mixed with solid axles and coil spring suspension, gives the Grenadier impressive articulation and 10.4 inches ground clearance. The suspension also bolsters an impressive approach, breakover and departure angle of 35.5, 28.2 and 36.1 degrees, respectively.

The interior of the Grenadier is built to epitomize function over form. The overhead console reminds us of the overhead console of an aircraft, with switches, buttons and gauges all available. With my background in  Army aviation, I am reminded of a UH-60 Blackhawk when looking at the interior, with the overhead panel having numerous switches and buttons In fact, the overhead console is pre-wired with buttons to hook up lights and accessories to suit your various offroad needs eliminated the need to drill holes and run wiring manually

The Grenadier has comfortable leather seats, and despite its utilitarian function, it boasts other creature comforts as well including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, offering Apple car play and Android autoThe Grenadier offers heated seats, and you can add a sunroof, or safari windows over the cockpit. Bottom line, the vehicle offers functionality and utilitarianism with style to make it a truly unique experience.

Built for Customization
