Recap: Full Size Trail Ride at AOAA
This past Sunday, March 10th, we hit the trails at Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area for our first-ever Full Size Trail Ride. Over 30 vehicles headed out with our OK4WD crew to transverse the muddy, slush and snow-covered trails. Some full sized rigs that participated in the event were a Ford 350, Toyota Tundra, Chevy Silverado, and a Ram 1500. Besides full-sized trucks, other vehicles that participated included a few Jeep JKUs, a Ford Ranger, Toyota 4Runners, etc.
We started our day out early around 9 AM, despite the hour lost from day light's saving time. We began with a quick safety meeting and a raffle- one lucky participants was awarded an ARB Weekender Recovery Kit and one a MAXTRAX Mini, no doubt helpful on these tricky, soupy trails. Then, we ventured single file into the trails of AOAA. We were meet with soaked trails- mud under snow under slush, but we made our way through. The trails dip through winding pine forests, rolling hill-covered snow fields scattered with abandoned mining equipment, and lots of full puddles and bumps. Despite the rain and cold, the day was full day of fun exploring. We can't wait for next year. Thank you to all who came out and joined us.
